🎬 The Movement Continues...
What began as a student documentary has grown into a larger conversation about food insecurity, nutrition, and the power of community.
Following a successful premiere at the historic Lafayette Theater, More Than a Meal is continuing its journey with its next community screening at the Finkelstein Memorial Library on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Admission is free, and while tickets are required to reserve a seat, donations are always welcome to help support organizations serving families and individuals facing food insecurity.
As the film reaches new schools, libraries, community organizations, faith communities, and neighborhoods, each screening creates an opportunity to educate, connect communities, and raise funds for local organizations making a difference where they are needed most.
If you're interested in hosting a screening, partnering with us, or bringing More Than a Meal to your community, we'd love to hear from you. Whether your audience is large or small, every screening helps expand the conversation and inspire action.
Together, we can continue turning awareness into action, one community at a time.

Summary:
More Than a Meal explores the hidden crisis of food insecurity in America. Beyond the idea of "food deserts," the film reveals how affordability, access, and dignity shape what ends up on our tables - and how communities are building powerful solutions.
Director's Note:
"I began this journey with a simple question: why do so many families in one of the wealthiest countries in the world still struggle to eat well? Through interviews with farmers, food pantries, food banks, and families, I discovered that food insecurity is about more than being fed - it's about being nourished. My hope is that this film sparks action, empathy, and change." - Mia Jean, Documentarian & Filmmaker

Food Insecurity isn't just about hunger, it's about health, dignity, and the future we share. Too often, it hides in plain sight, reduced to statistics instead of stories. More Than a Meal was created to change that: to redefine how we see food access and to highlight the people and communities building real solutions.
At a moment when processed food is everywhere and nourishing food feels out of reach for too many, we can no longer confuse being fed with being well. This film invites us to look closer, listen deeper, and act together - because our health and our future depend on it.
